JAC Comrie Pty Ltd was established in 2006 by John Comrie to enable him to provide consulting assistance directly to local governments seeking to improve their financial governance, strategies and performance and to support other agencies with these objectives. His key interests are in research and preparation of guidance material and training activities to stimulate thinking and advance local government financial capability and performance. John was responsible for the initiation and development of the financial sustainability improvement related legislative reforms that were introduced in South Australia in the early 2000's and that were a prime basis of subsequent similar reforms in other states.
He has undertaken research and written regarding a wide range of local government financial issues and has contributed to material developed for national local government audiences on these topics.
He conducts local government financial related training activities throughout Australia and has often spoken on these subjects at national forums.
John had previously headed the South Australian Government’s Office of Local Government and prior to that the Local Government Association of SA and a large local government in metropolitan Adelaide.
